The Flavian
Amphitheater (The Colosseum)
Also known as
the Colosseum, this ancient structure is still one of the most beautiful sites
that you can see in the city despite the fact that it has fallen into ruin. The
Flavian Amphitheater has been standing since 80AD which was built on the site
of an artificial lake that happens to be part of Nero’s huge park in the centre
of Rome. It also includes the Golden House (Domus Aurea) and the nearby
Colossus statue.

Another ancient
site that you want to visit when in Rome is the Tiber Island. The island is of
the two islands in the Tiber River which runs through Rome. It is a boat shaped
island that is located in the southern end of the Tiber River which is
approximately 270m long and 67m wide. The island is connected with bridges to
both sides of the river which linked it to the rest of Rome since antiquity and
was once called Insula Inter-Duos-Pontes which means “The Island between the

Casal Rotondo
Casal Rotondo is
an ancient tomb that is located approximately 6th mile of the
ancient Appian Way, to the southeast of Rome, Italy. The mausoleum’s name comes
from the fact that it is round and it has a middle age farmhouse (casale) built
on top of it which served as watch towers along the Appian Way. This ancient
structure was built first around 30BC. It is built in a large circular building
with 35m in diameter and decorated with frieze and a coned roof. Its base comes
with seats where travelling visitors could rest.
